IMPORTANT: Centrelink payments in December

by admin on November 24, 2011

Be prepared for the earlier dates for Centrelink payments for the Christmas period. This is NOT an extra payment. Clients and communities will need to budget to make the money last longer. Payments linked to return of forms will also be affected.

Important points for payments from Centrelink

  • An early payment is NOT an extra payment. It is a normal payment paid early because of the public holiday period.
  • Your client will need to budget carefully so that payments last until the next payment is due.
  • No payments will be delayed by public holidays.

For full details, please visit Centrelink

Centrelink offices and call centres will be closed on:

  • Monday 26 December – Christmas Day public holiday
  • Tuesday 27 December – Boxing Day public holiday
  • Monday 2 January 2012 – New Years Day public holiday

Payments linked to return of forms will also be affected.

As a result of the public holidays, payment schedules for customers who receive Newstart Allowance, Youth Allowance and other payments linked to the return of forms will be affected. Review the table below carefully to understand these changes for December.

do you realise the dates are wrong in the payment dates as i am sure as can be Tuesday in December is not the 27th but in fact the 25th this should be corrected as it is very misleading thank you.

Hi Mandi,
Thanks for the comment. These dates were published for 2011. We don’t have the payment dates for 2012 yet, but once we do we will be sure to post them to the site for you.

hello just wondering if there is any bonus payment at all (extra Payment) to help out those with children, i have a 14 year old brother that is now in my care and i only get paid enough to pay rent and bills, so xmas is going to be boring for him if there isnt any bonus payment such as an extra $100. not asking much just wanted to know, because you only get enough to survive for the 2 weeks u get paid that is all thank you
